On May 7th, CSNDC hosted another highly successful Women’s Small Business Expo at the Perkins Community Center. The event featured 10 women entrepreneur vendors and four resource providers, with 102 people attending.
The Expo offered women entrepreneurs a platform to exhibit their products and services, helping them gain visibility and allowing attendees to discover local businesses they may not have been aware of.
“We are honored to focus attention on these women and their businesses,” said Naldo Cardoso, CSNDC’s Small Business Specialist, who organized the event. “By showcasing their achievements and contributions, we hope to inspire others in the community to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.”
The event also provided opportunities for women entrepreneurs to network with peers, local community leaders, and helpful resource providers from Union Capital, Dorchester Bay, Women’s Business & Enterprise, and Rockland Trust. These connections will hopefully lead to collaboration, partnerships, and support systems that are essential for business growth.
“What’s special about this event is that it brings together multiple resource providers with the vendors, all in the same space,” says Cardoso. “This offers the business owners easy access to helpful resources that don’t typically outreach to them in this community, which is an important step in promoting economic empowerment for women in our area.”
Tiffany Williams, owner of Grandeur Finds by Tiffany, a pop-up secondhand boutique, agrees.
“Having completed CSNDC’s Small Business Course in 2025, I had the opportunity to participate in the Women’s Small Business Expo last year, and I was honored to return again this year for the 3rd annual event,” says Tiffany. “These experiences have allowed my business to generate revenue, expand our network, and connect with like-minded women entrepreneurs and professionals throughout Boston. CSNDC has created a space where small business owners feel supported, encouraged, and empowered to grow their vision, and I’m incredibly grateful that they continue to invest in entrepreneurs and help turn dreams into reality.”
Michelle Carter, owner of Michelle Green Thumbz, a local business that offers natural organic, plant-based solutions for dry skin, concurs as well. Michelle has exhibited at the Expo in each of its three years.
“This was an excellent opportunity to network and receive community resources from local banking institutions while showcasing my products,” says Michelle. “It was a very positive experience. I would participate again and recommend others to participate in its yearly growth.”
Supporting entrepreneurs is a central part of CSNDC’s Economic Development work, since it creates pathways for our neighbors in Codman Square to not just survive, but to thrive. Supporting local small businesses also helps to make Codman Square a vibrant place to live for all community members.
